We love tzatziki as a dip for vegetables and pita and as a sauce over chicken and greek salad. It is difficult to find tzatziki in grocery stores in the US which is all the more reason to make your own at home from fresh organic ingredients!
1 large cucumber
2 cups low-fat plain yogurt (for a thicker sauce use strained yogurt)
2 cloves garlic, crushed or finely minced
1 tsp or more fresh dill, minced
Celtic sea salt to taste
- Peel the cucumber, cut it in half, and remove the seeds; grate it and then drain in a sieve.
- Combine yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, and dill. Season to taste with sea salt.
- Mix well and refrigerate.
- Serve with warm pita bread, steamed or raw vegetables, fish, chicken, beef or lamb.
